First things to do
After arriving in the city, there are a few things you need to remember. Here is a short list of important issues:
- OBTAINING A VISA AND RESIDENCE PERMIT: EU citizens do not need residence permit and visa. To enter Italy only a valid Identity Card is required. Health insurance, private health insurance or European model should be provided in advance from your own country.
- HEALTHCARE ISSUES: In order to have access to public health care in Italy, student should have EU model which extends health care abroad.

- INSURANCE: All foreign students should be covered by their home university with a personal liability and accident insurance for the period that they spend at SAA.
Moving around Torino
- Bus, train and metro:
Tickets are sold in tobacco stores. It is not possible to buy ticket in the bus or in the tram. The list of available tickets in Turin is available below:
- Ordinary city ticket - € 1,00 - valid for 70 minutes from when first punched (only punch the ticket once, on the first vehicle boarded) on metropolitan lines and on city rail links along GTT suburban lines. By punching the ticket a second time within the 70-minute timeframe, users can continue their journey as far as the terminus using the same vehicle.
- Booklet of 15 ordinary city tickets - € 13,50 - each ticket, used separately, is valid for 70 minutes; user procedure is detailed above.
- All-day city ticket - € 3,50 - can be used on metropolitan lines and on the city rail links along GTT suburban lines. It can be used from when punched till the end of the service.
- All-day city shopping ticket - € 2,00 - valid for any 4-hour period on metropolitan lines and on the city rail link along GTT suburban lines from punched (at the beginning of the first ride) between 9 am and 8 pm.
- Ordinary city + suburban ticket - € 1,50 - valid for 70 minutes on GTT city and suburban lines from when punched.
- Booklet of 15 ordinary city + suburban tickets - € 21,00 - each ticket, used separately, is valid for 70 minutes; user procedure for ordinary city and suburban tickets is detailed above.

NOTE: For all people, who are under 25 years old discounts for monthly ticket ( 16.90 €) are possible. To get this discount student should ask for an abbonamento mensile studenti which will be given by SAA.
- Travel documents:
All passengers have to board public transport with a valid travel document, passengers must not dispose of the document during a trip and show it GTT inspectors upon request.
- Taxi:
Taxis are white and parked at all railway and bus stations, airports and main squares. To call the taxi in Turin you have to dial the number:

Banks
To open an account in Italy student needs to have Identity Card, Student Card and Italian Fiscal Code (Codice Fiscale). To get Codice Fiscale you have to visit:

The opening hours from Monday to Friday are: 8:35 -1:30 and 14:45-16:15. Banks are generally closed on Saturdays. Automatic cashpoints (Bancomat) are always open.
Shopping
In Italy during the midday all the stores and offices are closed for a couple of hours. Shops are usually open from Monday till Saturday. The opening hours are as followed: 9:30 - 12:30 in the morning and in the afternoon 15:30- 19:30. On Sundays they are closed.
Leisure time
In Turin there are a lot of discos where entrance fees vary from € 7 to € 16. You can also choose among large number of pubs where entrance is free and where you can have a beer or a coke for about € 4. If you want to know more you should visit:
