Application
In order to apply for a semester or more spent at IHK you have to fill in university's own documents. They are available on the following website: Exchange Students.
Appart from application forms for courses, you will also find some useful information there as well as forms concerning accommodation if you want to apply for it.
Accommodation issues
If your accommodation in Copenhagen was provided to you by IHK (you can apply for it when you send student application forms for courses or programs), you have to collect your key from the university. You can do that during the Introduction Day (which is usually organised just before the beginning of the semester) or you may visit the Accommodation Office and get the key from Pia Holm: pih@ihk.dk, room D 2.01 (in the International Office). In both cases you have to bring a confirmation of bank transfer (payment for the accommodation)! Without this document, you won't be able to receive your key.
If you were given accommodation with a Danish family (a room in a private house), it is your responsibility to arrange payments and other issues with the owner of the house. Be sure to send an e-mail to them concerning the date of your arrival and remember to sign a tenancy agreement. Keep a copy for yourself - you will need it for example when applying for a CPR nuber.
It is unfortunately possible that although you have applied for the accommodation, you willl end up being on the "waiting list". You will be notified about that by e-mail. In such a case, it becomes your problem to find a place to stay in. Renting a flat may cost around 5500-6000 DKK, so it is best if you can share it with another person and ho halves on the costs. Usually electricity is not included in the rent and you will also have to get an internet connection on your own.
Should you have any problems with the accommodation provided to you by the university, feel free to visit Pia Holm and discuss it with her. It is very important to check if everything is ok in your room just after you arrive there. If any equipment is missing or damaged and you don't report that early enough, you may be charged the costs of replacing or repairing it. You should also check if there is any additional furniture in the room that is not listed in your tenancy agreement. Students who leave any extra furniture in their rooms after their departure may be charged the costs of removing that furniture. Be sure to report it if you find any additional closets, tables or chairs. You'll avoid having to pay for it later on.
Courses & programs
At IHK you can choose from a variety of courses, but you should note that only some of them are conducted in English. If you don't know Danish, be sure to check that before applying for a chosen course. The list of courses is given here: Course Catalog. It is, however recommended to check the courses you chose are really available!
There is also a possibility to apply for so called "Summer School". It is usually held in July or August and includes a number of different subjects to choose from, for example "Danish language and culture". You can find more information concerning these courses here: Summer School. You can also apply for accommodation during the Summer School.
Grading scale
Danish grading scale is a 7 grade scale including the following possible grades: 12, 10, 7, 4, 2, 0, -3.
